Describe the question

Why does yazi not open/edit certain plain/text files?

For instance:

~ ❯ xdg-mime query default text/plain
Helix.desktop

xdg-open opens the file in Helix without a problem.

If I try to open the same file (edit, open) in Yazi, nothing happens.
If I run YAZI_LOG=debug yazi, there is nothing in the log file, that would point to a potential cause.

I even deleted .config/yazi/yazi.toml with my custom modifications.

Any ideas, what could be the cause?

Use <Tab> button to check mime type. Some of Yazi mime types are different than file/xdg CLI.

I had to prepend_rules for the "application/gentoo.ebuild" Mimetype.
